    Hi:

I need to add additional fields to the Shipping section of the Checkout block. It’s locked. If I have to use a plugin or extension can you suggest one/some? Those I’m finding work with Classic checkout, not the Checkout BLOCK.

Or is this not possible with the checkout BLOCK? Am I forced to use the Classic Checkout?

    Thanks!

Hello @vytaulla51 are you referring to WooCommerce Blocks?

Hey there, @vytaulla51! Thanks for contacting us. I’m happy to help you.

While there are quite a lot of plugins to edit the checkout shortcode (including oficial ones), editing the checkout block is a bit more complicated.

It is newer and we are still working to improve it. At the moment we don’t have a plugin suggestion to edit the checkout block.

But you can achieve this with custom code.

This task is a bit outside our support policy, but don’t worry! We’ve got some resources that can help you out:

?If you’re uncomfortable with this approach, you may need to consider?hiring a developer?who can help you with these customizations.

If you decide to switch to shortcode, I recommend checking our official plugin Checkout Field Editor. We provide support for it and it has a 30-day money-back guarantee so you can test it ??

    I hope this helps!

Please let us know if there’s anything else we can do to help or if you have any questions.

    Have a wonderful day!

Thank you for replying. Re: Checkout Field Editor, does it include any form of conditional fields? We have to add some custom fields that only apply to one category of products. We would like them to only be visible at checkout if the customer is choosing that product, otherwise not be visible. Does Checkout Field Editor enable that kind of functionality?

    Hi there,

At the moment, the one linked to by @carolm29 doesn’t have conditional display options but this one does: Conditional Checkout Field for WooCommerce

    Hope it helps ??

Thanks RK – yes I had seen the Conditional Checkout for WooCommerce plugin. I guess I felt a bit more secure about a plugin by WOO itself on the theory that it will be maintained forever etc. But it doesn’t offer the functionality I need.

    Hi @vytaulla51

But it doesn’t offer the functionality I need.

I’d be glad if you could give us more details about what you’re trying to achieve. After this, we will be able to provide a solution.

Please feel free to attach a screenshot to your reply so we can understand the context better. The page at the following link has some helpful tips for taking screenshots: https://wordpress.com/support/make-a-screenshot/

Looking forward to hearing from you!

    Hi Shameem:

The site I’m working on doesn’t sell products, it RENTS them for people on vacation in Myrtle Beach: linens, bicycles, beach umbrellas, etc. They also rent golf carts. So if someone rents a golf cart through the website, they need to provide a DOB & driver’s license info – something that isn’t needed for any other rented product. So we would want fields for that information to appear at checkout ONLY for people renting golf carts as all or part of what they’re getting. Golf carts ARE under a specific category so anything from that category should cause those fields to appear, but if you’re not renting a golf cart the fields don’t appear.

    Does that make sense?

    Hi @vytaulla51

Thank you for providing more context about your needs. It definitely makes sense that you would want fields for DOB and driver’s license info to appear at checkout only for customers renting golf carts.

Unfortunately, the Checkout Field Editor or Conditional Checkout Fields & Edit Checkout Fields for WooCommerce does not currently offer the specific functionality you’re looking for. It does not support conditional fields based on product categories.

However, there are other plugins available that might help you achieve this, such as the Checkout Field Manager (Checkout Manager) for WooCommerce. It allows to create custom fields based on the products or categories in the customer’s cart.

If you want a more robust solution, you can hire a professional developer who can create a custom solution for you based on your specific needs. Here is an idea: https://stackoverflow.com/a/50768679

I wish I could help more, but hopefully, this gets you going in the right direction to get the job done.
