How about a really useful update?

So WordPress now handles this nicely. And there’s no reason to replace it’s default functionality. However, this plugin could extend what WP already does. The current WP favicon (or site branding) feature could be the default. Then this plugin could give us options to override it in certain places. For example, it might allow us to set an alternative for the admin (as it already does). It would be really helpful if it added an option on pages and posts, so we could set a favicon per-page or per-post.
However, it should do all this with a similar interface to WP core functionality, where we only need to upload one 512×512 image and the plugin takes care of the rest. That’s how I could see this plugin being useful and valuable again.
