    In at least two areas of the interface there are fields where you can enter HTML to appear: The Footer and the Welcome Panel. However, the “Basic HTML” does not support the STYLE tag. I could see perhaps why you wouldn’t want the SCRIPT tag, but it would be VERY handy to be able to put the STYLE tag in there. (Though why not allow SCRIPT while you are at it?)

    Or at least indicate exactly what HTML tags are allowed.

    It looks like it has something to do with the function wp_kses_post that has certain HTML allowed. There is a nice group of tags indicated at https://wp-mix.com/allowed-html-tags-wp_kses/
