hover over colour of text in menu

Im trying to make the hover over colour for the different items in my menu red for ‘home’, white for ‘work’, and grey for ‘about’, but can’t seem to figure it out.
I managed to get it working previously, but I think maybe updating wordpress, or filling out a menu in the appearance-menus section might have stopped it working, unless i messed it up somehow. The text is highlighted in the appropriate colour when the browser is on the page, but not when hovering over the page link. This is my website
