• Hi, I’m running wordpress 1.5 and recently i enabled and then disabled hotlink protection through control panel.

since then i now find that i can only access the front page of my site (www.ballardian.com), but no category pages, no archives, no article pages…nothing except the front page.

all i get is a 404 “page not found” error. does anyone know if hotlink protection has caused some kind of conflict with wordpress?

i’m really at a loss to know what’s going on, so any help is greatly appreciated.

    thanks

  • Just go into the admin under options permalinks and hit the update button. This will rewrite the rules in your .htaccess file for your link structure.

Also, its best not to use your control panel for hotlink protection, as it rewrites the .htaccess file and that’s what caused wordpress to mess up. If you google for .htaccess and hotlinking solutions, you can find some and manually add them to your .htaccess file. (You’ll need to be able to download, edit, and upload this file of course).

Also, you might find this article useful. It’s an A List Apart article on a better way to protect against hotlinking.
