  • “localhost” is the most commonly used value for Host Name. Have you tried that?

If that doesn’t work, talk to your web host’s Support folks. Or check their documentation. I found mine in the e-mail I got from them when they first setup my web hosting account.

The technical jargon you need to explain what you are looking for is: the Host Name to connect to a MySQL database from php.

Who is your webhost? Like adiant said, if localhost to call your database is not working, then you need to find out. Sometimes your webhost might have an FAQ. If you have not already searched their FAQ, then submit a support ticket asking what to use for upgrading since localhost is not working.

I have Domain.com also. I have looked everyplace and I can’t find my WordPress hostname, either. Did you find out where to find it? I want to know, too. Please let me know!

    Thank you!

I found out the answer to my problem. If you have Domain.com install the WordPress, they do not allow you to have access to upgrade it. I did a google site search and found a page that they do not have a link to from the rest of the site:

Installing WordPress – Two Options at Domain.com

    https://blog3.domain.com/domaincom/installing-wordpress/
    quote:

    The Downside:

    ?

The automatic install version of WordPress has some file editing permissions locked

. This means you can’t upgrade through the WordPress interface, but instead have to manage your installation through the hosting control panel in the same area of the application vault you use to install and uninstall WordPress. These permissions are locked to keep the automatic installation working properly. Without them, the application vault would not be able to properly update settings or perform upgrades.
