• I have a website which works on my local host with WAMP.

However, I haven’t been able to host this online.

I receive the “Error establishing database connection”.

The dbname, user, password etc are all correct.

I am unsure, which folder I need to put as the physical path in IIS setting.

In my WAMP folder, I have a folder named “WP”. Further to this, my wordpress website files are specifically located in C:\wamp\www\WP\wp-content\themes\twentyten.

So where should I point the physical path to in IIS? The root folder, or some other subfolder?

  • The error that you are getting means that your database connection detaeils are not correct. You did change the details in your wp-config.php file to reflect the database on the new server, and not just re-used the ones from your local server, didn’t you?

The location of your WP files has no relevance to this problem. If you can see that error message, the files are where they should be.
