Hosting suggestions

  • The hosting company that I was using suddenly shut down and I’m left looking for another. I looked at the few that WordPress suggested and was wondering what reliable, but not too expensive hosting WordPress users would recommend. Thanks!

  • i dont know if this is against WP TOS but i have XL host for a dedicated server… xlhost.com

    inexpensive and custom setup… will don pretty much anything for money.

    liquidweb.com is a little more expensive but they have a 24/7 support team that take complete care of your server (get this if you = newbie) a lil more expensive.

    DreamHost is the best overall host I’ve dealt with. Their system is extremely flexible, they’ve got good uptime.

    They do no have telephone support on their basic package, however. So if you’re someone who prefers the more personal, immediate attention, I’d recommend BlueHost. (DreamHost’s e-mail support is pretty good, though). Both are recommended on the WP hosting page as well.

    And you didn’t ask, but absolutely worst hosts I’ve dealt with are 1&1 and PowWeb. 1&1 has good uptime but shameful support (48+ hour response tiime) and tons of nasty little limits that pop up left and right. PowWeb, though it’s improved somewhat since I’ve been with them, has really awful uptime, limited support, a rigid structure, and (at least when I was there) tons of hidden fees.

    I use DreamHost personally: Overall, it’s probably best.

    P.S.: uaslam, what would be against WP’s TOS? (What TOS, for that matter?)

    I signed up with Dreamhost recently (partially because I feel confident that the WordPress team doesn’t recommend hosts solely for the referral programs), and I must say that I feel I get a lot for my monthly fee. I’ve had to deal with support once, and I think a 40 minute initial response time with follow-ups within 10 minutes is quite good. I also appreciate the openness and community feeling that comes with their detailed status updates, user forums, wiki, blog, user driven feature suggestion and so on.

    If you are looking for an all-in-one solution, I recently found https://thebloghotel.com, where I set up a friend who wanted to start his blog, but didn’t really care about the technical aspects of it. They set you up with everything you need as far as WordPress is concerned. He says support is great, so he doesn’t have to bother me everyday with questions, which I really appreciate ??

    I host my wordpress based website now off it.

    Another vote for 1and1 here. Been with them for two years with no issues.

    GISOL works pretty good for me. I’ve had sites with them for 3 years, and only had one problem that took a few days to fix. Any other issues that I’ve had have been taken care of immeditaely.
    And quite inexpensive.

    I would go with https://cpowerweb.com
    Those guys have tons of WordPress themes that they upload to your site if you request it. Saves collecting theme’s yourself.
    Uptime and speed is great. They have their servers in a big datacenter in Texas.

    i have some wp blogs on site5.com and for me it’s great
