Hosting on libsync – how to connect existing itunes with PowerPress?

    Hi there,

    I have some simple questions but I can’t find any docu about that: I’m hosting my new podcast on libsyn, I’m already on itunes with my first episode via libsyn. To publish my episodes on my own wordpress blog I’d like to use the PowerPress Plugin. I already imported my rss feed from libsyn in the plugin. But for the settings I’m not sure – shall I set up everything for itunes again? Will it sync with my existing itunes profile or will I create a second identical profile when I send the data from PowerPress to itunes? Is there any way to connect PowerPress with my existing itunes Podcast?

    PowerPress doesn’t have an automatic import function. Since you’re using the LibSyn feed already for iTunes, your best bet going forward would be to manually copy your posts from LibSyn into your WordPress site after you’ve posted them to LibSyn. Since you won’t be using PowerPress to generate your podcast RSS feed, there’s really no reason to fill out all of the settings within PowerPress. However, if you want to use the subscribe options built into PowerPress, you will want to fill out the Destinations tab within PowerPress settings.

    To add to what Shawn said, You can use PowerPress with libsyn hosted MP3’s. Just use “for download only” at libsyn and put the mp3 link in the Media URL box. That way, you will use PowerPress for your feed instead of libsyn’s feed.

    Better yet, migrate to blubrry hosting and you can have it all in one at your site.
