• Suddenly I could not see the visual editor at all–click on tab, no go, so no shortcodes, including Gravity Forms could be entered. I had the theme developer look and he said it was happening with all themes on my site. I tried:
    deactivated then deleted all plugins,
changed to 2012 theme and deleted all the themes…still happening.
I cleaned out the entire site folder and then reinstalled WP 3.5 from hostgator cpanel and started over…same thing. Cleaned browser cache…

A core file reset by Hostgator fixed it —for now— the tech who helped me said they are seeing it all over the place and that it is definitely the 3.5 update that is the culprit here. I hope to see 3.6 any day now because I have to use Gravity Forms and other shortcodes! and my recent clients will be pretty upset!

My site is in development and besides, you can’t see it.

Can you please provide more details including what core file Hostgator changed? You installed using the Hostgator auto install script which does not actually give you a clean install. The include and auto activate some plugins, add a backlink to your footer and dump a bunch of themes in your theme directory.

A clean install would involve following these directions. Also there is a known issue with mod_pagespeed which Hostgator could have enabled by default on your account.

I am sorry, they just said “Core File Reset” and they said that has been fixing it for others too.

I looked at the master list t-p sent but I have used none of those themes or plugins.

When I have added WP on my home server, it only adds the two Automatic themes and Hostgator does exactly the same, certainly not “a bunch of themes.” Also Hostgator does not activate any plugins. They install WP-Super-Cache but do not activate it. Not sure why that would be an issue.

What I don’t know about is mod-pagespeed and that I will definitely check if it happens again and do a clean install using Fantastico(?). Thank you!
