• Hello, recently my hosting account was suspended for using too much of my hosts ram. I have a VPS hosting account which gives me 256mb ram. I have had a big traffic spike in the last two days which brought my daily traffic from 100 uniques a day to almost 2000. What is using all of my resources? how can I find out? Is there any plugin I can install which will cause less stress on my server’s memory?

this is the second time this has happened. the first time, I was on a shared server. I switched hosts, and now I’m on an expensive plan and it is still happening. Help!

  • Try WP-Cache plugin?

If that isn’t enough, you should disable any plugins that tracks site statistics because any stat tracker uses a large amount of memory. You can also deactivate any plugins that are not absolutely necessary because every time a page is loaded it loads all activated plugins into memory to see if it needs to use them.

I have a lot of plugins. I will disable the ones I don’t use. I’ll look into the wp-cache plugin as well. I was also running two stats plugins, as I had no idea that would be a problem. does anyone know which stats plugin uses less resources out of stattraq and wp-shortstat?

The same happened to me few days ago. I upgraded from 2.13 to 2.2 and then things started to go weird utill my host decided to suspended the account completely… aaaah!

They are asking me if i would like to switch to a different content management engine, because the WP is taking too many resources… This sounds very unpleasant. I dont use any stats plugins, what else could this be?
