• My host (Go Daddy) server recently transferred my website to a new server. This process meant I was off line for over 12 hours. They claim my word press blog (https://arch1design.com/blog/) was slowing the system down and affecting others.

I only have recently started getting higher viewers around 10000 last month. They say I may have to get my own personal dedicated server if this continues. However this is costly. They have given me one month to sort word press out.

They suggest in the meantime …..

However, please review your WordPress installation and some suggestions would be to upgrade to the latest version, restrict access to the blog and/or optimize the code. If you have installed any plug-ins, add-ons, themes, etc., please review them to be sure they are optimized or remove them if they are causing an issue. You may consider installing the Super Cache plug-in to help reduce the number or queries to the database.

Are there there any more things i can do to speed upload time?

    Thanks in advance

  • 10000 a month isn’t *that* many. I don’t think I’d call it dedicated server territory anyway.

It looks like you’re running a caching plugin and the latest version of WP, so I can only suggest you optimize any images for the web, tidy up html and css where you can. Uninstall any plugins you absolutely don’t need. Have a read of this too, which gives some tips about optimizing your theme’s code:

You’ll find plenty of other similar tips with a quick bit of Googling I’m sure.
