• Hi

I just received nothing less but 205 emails from iThemes Security saying the following:

A host, 72.51.33.47, has been locked out of the WordPress site at https://mysite.dk?utm_source=email&utm_medium=email due to too many attempts to access a file that does not exist.
The host has been locked out permanently .

What I don’t understand is the URL. What does this mean: utm_source=email&utm_medium=email ? What file did this person or bot try to access and why? And most importantly, how do I stop this from happening again?

    Hope you can help
    Thanks

  • Are you using any tracking plugin to track the leads?

utm_source=email&utm_medium=email is a tracking code added by the lead tracking plugin.

You need to check the server logs and iThemes Security log to see which file(s) are they tried to access. Getting these emails mean iThemes Security is taking care of blocking such attempts.

Yes, I’m using the plugin “Better Analytics”. Could that be the reason for the code? And is this a problem?

I’ve just checked the logs and the files that this person or bot has been trying to access are a lot of different files at different locations that I’ve never heard of before. The files does not exist either.

Is this something I should be worried about and if so; what should I do?
