  • the only issue i’ve ever had with installation on godaddy is when the hosting is set up on a windows server, instead of a linux server… go to “my account” and click on “hosting accounts” click on your domain name, and check on the right hand side that you’re using either economy w/PHP or deluxe w/CGI

come back here and let me know – i have lots of experience with godaddy and am sure i can help you. ??

my db name and db user are the same in godaddy.. i have my password typed in and i left localhost in its place.. it keeps giving me an error..

okay, at least we know that much now! ??

you don’t want localhost in there with godaddy…

when you go to your control panel for where you set up the database, and click on the name of it, it will tell you what the database name is – something like mysql23.secureserver.net

replace localhost with whatever’s there, save, and re-upload the file.

oh okay.. so i replace it with host name, right?

    mysq999.secureserver.net

thanks.. i tried that before and for some reason it worked this time.. thanks for your quickness.. you are great!

?? you’re welcome… sometimes you have to wait a few minutes before the database completes it’s setup before you do the install.

    glad i could help! ??

    ladydelaluna –

Here is a twister on my GoDaddy install… I have installed it and worked out the MySQL issues (on the first try) – but now, when I try to log in by entering my Username and Password on the wp-login.php I get redirected back to the login every time… would appreciate any help or advise you may have.

beldorian – i don’t think that’s a godaddy issue. you might want to post this question as a fresh one (if you haven’t already) to see if someone can help you with that.

it could be a quite simple thing, i’m just not sure, so i’d hate to give you an answer that might wreck something! but i can tell you with reasonable certainty that it’s most likely not a godaddy issue – but rather something with your files.
