Host disabling a site because of spam
-
I wanted to relate a story about a friend who I am trying to help. Their wp site on hostgator was suspended by gator because of tremendous amounts of spam generated by the contactform. After my friend called gator, they un-suspended the site, but removed all permissions from the plugin file. Well, this not only causes errors to be displayed on every page, but it has also stopped them from logging in to admin.
Gator’s solution is to use their contactform html code. However, we can’t even get into wp to make any changes.
I think gator is clueless about wp. All my friend needed to do was to disable the plugin until a solution was found. And now she can’t do that.
Aside from the “move to another host” response, does anyone have any other comments or suggestions?
Thanks, jim
