Host a second site?

    I hope this is the right area,

    I want to start hosting a second website, i have the domain etc

    an want to create a new website, how can this be done on wordpress?

  • See if your web hosting package allows hosting more than 1 site. Most of the shared hosting allows only 1 site but it can be upgraded anytime to host multiple domain. The configuration depends on the web host but it’s mostly the same, we need to login and create a directory for another domain, this directory is where we upload WordPress files, edit the wp-config.php with new database info which we created mostly via phpmyadmin, and then we also need to login to domain hosting to point the domain to hosting server.

    forgive me as I’m not a web developer

    I only want to edit and host a second website, i use divi on wordpress and just want a simple way to do this

    is this possible

    Lindsay,

    As Paul said, you will need to check if your web hosting provider allows you to host multiple websites to start with. For example, the Basic BlueHost plan only allows 1 website to be hosted. Meaning if you wanted to host two sites (site1.com and site2.com) you would need to upgrade your plan.

    Or you could change your current site to perform within a WordPress multi site network.

    You need just 1 hoster, 1 hosting package and 2 domains. Will saveyou some money too ??

    Look for add-on-domains in cpanel (assuming your host has allowed this feature) and point your second domain to your WP2 subdirectory. Your host’s techs will probably be able to help with this step.
