• Hi,
I have two websites installed on a cloud server with Bluehost. One of them gives around 5000+ hits a day. For the past one week I have been facing “Error establishing database connection” errors and the site stays down for 5-6 hours every day. I tried chatting, calling and emailing Bluehost but all they say is “We are aware of the problem, we are looking into it” but do not say what the issue is and it remains unresolved. I am sure technically my installations do not have problems.

I had no problems with Bluehost in over a year and now this happens. What should I do? I just updated over a month ago and if I move out now I will lose all that money.

    Thanks
    vadakkus

  • never had this issue with bluehost so i suppose your server might be facing some issues or undergoing some maintenance.

also did you tried database caching or some caching plugin for wordpress?

if bluehost cant fix the issue , you better ask them to issue you a refund for such a bad service.

I wrote to them again and this time I got this:

we are currently a lot of issues with the cloud sites servers. Our admins are working to get it back up as soon as possible.
We understand that this can cause a lot of inconvenience so it is of the highest priority for us to get this resolved.
<asking me to get onto CloudFlare>
Thank you for understanding. unfortunately, there is nothing i or you can do right now other than wait for our admins to fix it, if you just want to complain you can email us at [email protected]. this is the best way to talk to our managers.

I saw everyone on WordPress singing praises of Bluehost and decided to go with it. This is my third host after Hostgator and BigRock. I guess there is nothing I can do but sit back and be sad.

not sure if cloudflare is gonna help, you can give it a try though.

my clients arent on cloud hosting, they use normal bluehost/wordpress plans and the support at bluehost is excellent.

i for myself use Digital Ocean , cheap and effective ??

I’ve had the same bad experience this weekend with Bluehost Cloud and their customer support.

I’ve got a WordPress blog hosted in a Baby shared plan at Hostgator. My website is running OK in Hostgator, but as I am growing I decided moving to Bluehost Cloud Sites. Big error!

It is crazy but my WordPress blog doesn’t work on Bluehost Cloud Sites. I requested them support and they didn’t check anything. I just got as response that I need to hire a developer to adapt my site to their platform!! They also refused to explain more, they just said “this is out of scope” ??

I am really dissapointed with Bluehost customer support. If their Cloud platform has problems/limitations, this is something that may happen. But they should be honest and transparent with this. They should clarify what are their cloud platform requirements, instead of only say that the fault is in my WordPress blog and “this is out of scope”. The point is that my websites works perfect at Hostgator, and I expected that would also run good at Bluehost. Big error!

Decided not to go to Bluehost because of the amount of bad reviews I have found! They should take better care about their customer support!

I have been with them for one of my clients since early in the summer, their service has been atrocious, both the technical team and the billing team are near useless (send a question and they respond by moving your account…).

The technical team was telling me to reset the passwords on some email redirections that did not work! On two occasions, by two different people.

Anyway, thanks for the tip about the cloud sites, it seemed like a tempting solution, on paper it sounds great (nginx, scalability like on a VPS, etc. really good for mid-size ventures) but if it does not work well with WP it’s not for everyone!
