• This plugin is absolute garbage. Every single function is half-assed.

The image replace doesn’t give options like changing file path or file name as for example Shortpixel Image Replace plugin does.

Hidden notices are blank, unlike Hide admin notices individually plugin.

Menu editor doesn’t let you customize secondary menus unlike Admin Menu Editor.

View admin as role is super dangerous. One wrong click for any role and ALL USERS INCL. ALL ADMINS ARE LOCKED OUT OF BACKEND PERMANENTLY. No safety nets whatsoever. Even after logout, clean cache, I couldn’t get into my backend anymore because of “missing permissions” WTF.
I never touched the admin user role settings, this plugin doesn’t care. Had to do a full website restore to log in again and delete this pile of crap.

The list goes on. This plugin doesn’t replace any quality plugin that has a single purpose. Unfortunate.

Well… ASE is not for everyone, and that’s OK. ??

That said, let me try to explain.

    >> Every single function is half-assed.

Some people actually enjoy the ‘lightweight’ functionality ASE offers, which offers simplicity. The goal is never to offer every single feature a standalone plugin has… that would probably turn ASE into a frankenstein plugin.

    >> The image replace doesn’t give options like changing file path or file name as for example Shortpixel Image Replace plugin does.

That’s an example… if you need that feature, nothing is stopping you from continue using Shortpixel. Most ASE users seems to be quite happy enough with the half-ass on offer. ??

    >> Hidden notices are blank, unlike Hide admin notices individually plugin.

Not sure what you mean here… but if you think it’s a bug, please explain in more details and share the steps to reproduce the issue, so we can fix the bug if it’s indeed a bug.

    >> Menu editor doesn’t let you customize secondary menus unlike Admin Menu Editor.

See above comment. Feel free to use AME instead.

    >> View admin as role is super dangerous. One wrong click for any role and ALL USERS INCL. ALL ADMINS ARE LOCKED OUT OF BACKEND PERMANENTLY.

Simply not true. ?? I suggest reading the module description more thoroughly.

Once you switch to another role, e.g. Editor, you’ll find in the admin bar “Viewing as Editor” with a “Switch back to Administrator” sub-menu item. You’ll also find “Switch back to Administrator” floating menu on the bottom-right corner of all wp-admin pages. And finally, if you read the module description thoroughly, there’s a “safety net”, which is visiting a URL that looks like https://www.site.com/?reset-for=yourusername to regain access to your administrator account. Not sure how you missed all of them?

Again, that’s completelly fine. ASE is not for everyone. ??

“Switch back to Administrator” did most definitely 100% not work. That’s exactly what I tried to do and it didn’t lead me back to backend.

Was that the on on the admin bar or the bottom-right corner of wp-admin pages?

I’m not aware of any bug for either, but you might have stumbled upon one. If you’re interested to help troubleshoot, I’ll be happy to go through it with you, but if you’re not interested, that’s fine too.
