    Hi,

I have the Twenty Sixteen theme on my blog, and it’s great, but yesterday I found out that Firefox (including Firefox for Android) shows a horizontal scroll bar on narrow screens for the posts.

I have tried disabling custom CSS and removing the ads (which are responsive), but the issue persists. Nothing on the page seems to be “bleeding” or overflowing off the body area.

Chrome and Edge don’t have this problem. Even the pages and the front page don’t have this problem on Firefox, so I am totally confused.

Please help, and thanks in advance!

  • most likely caused by your adsense ad near the top of the post.

    btw: same issue in Chrome.

what makes you believe that your adsense ads are responsive?
what plugin or code are you using for that?

AdSense has had responsive ads for a while. I have loaded the site in mobile and desktop Chrome, and there’s no horizontal scrollbar. I’d notice on my phone immediately.

Also the scrollbar appears in Firefox even after blocking the ads via uBlock Origin (which collapses the div).

Could you please post a screenshot of the site in Chrome where you see the horizontal scrollbar?

Chrome screenshot, showing the horizontal scroll bar and the ad protruding out of the container (similar to what I see in Firefox).

That will happen if you resize the browser window after the page has loaded. The browser window has to be resized first, and then page has to be loaded.

Ok, I have found the culprit. It’s the Related Posts module in Jetpack. For whatever reason, the divider line inserted by this module bleeds over to the right on narrow screens running Firefox (Gecko). Disabling the module fixes the problem.

Cannot post screenshots right now as I am in office, but I’ll open a new thread in the Jetpack forum when I am home.
