• hi there!

the horizontal menu is missing from the Oxygen Theme (by devpress) that i automatically installed from the WP installer.

(so i have compensated by adding in pages links manually)

how can i activate the automated PHP pages menu, or is there code missing from the files installed?

    my blog is at https://helloyeti.debblinks.com/

    here is the original theme.
    https://devpress.com/themes/oxygen/

the horizontal menu is the one in blue and it didn’t appear on my fresh install, even before i added in the custom header.

    many thanks for your assistance!

  • Howdy,

That’s unfortunate that “Oxygen” doesn’t support the Navigation menus functionality — Oxygen looks nice.

Not sure if you’re up for it, but adding navigation menus to a theme isn’t too hard.

Also do google search on “how to add navigation menus to your wordpress theme” and some sites will walk you through it.

    Good luck,

thank you for your reply paul ?? i looked at the oxygen theme preview and there was a horizontal menu just below the oxygen header that supposedly displays pages. so i was more than a little confused. :-s? anyhow. thanks and i’ll look into it! ??

    Howdy,

Upon further investigation, I was WRONG.

    1. Go to Appearance > Menus
    2. On the right side, you need to make a new menu. I usually call the one for the top “Global Navigation,” but you can name yours as you want.
    3. After giving the menu a name and clicking “Save Menu,” you’ll then see the three menu locations supported by this theme. They show up on the left.
    4. For “Primary,” choose your “Global Navigation” menu from the dropdown. Then click “Save.” (This is in the “Theme Locations” panel.)
    5. Now, still in Appearance > Menus, you can pick and choose what pages / categories / custom links / etc. to add to your menu.

Let me know if you need more help, and sorry if I sent you on a goose chase with my previous answer…

    Take care,
    Paul

I have another type of problem with the menus, they do not appear on some PC,s and I wonder if it has to do with flash?
I also got this reported from typical job related laptops where security always comes first.

Hope someone can help me on this?

    /Carl
