Hooks on media functions

  • Hi All.
    What about hooks in file wp-includes/media.php? I don’t find them there at all.
    What if i need a new image size in image_downsize function? Or(and) do something with only that size of picture?
    What is the best way to do this? I think rewriting media.php file is not the best thing that i can do.

    Any ideas?
