Hook to include post meta content in slider

I would like to include things like the post date & categories in the slider. Are there any hooks to do this or would it be necessary to edit
genesis-responsive-slider.php?I’ve looked through that file but haven’t seen anything to accomplish this. I just want to make sure there isn’t something I’m missing.
