• My dashboard and homepage work, but all links (pages, posts, categories, dates, etc) return a 500 error. I had been working on other problems and over wrote my wp files and recreated my db and now I have this problem. It’s like there is a file somewhere that is supposed to tie link addresses to db calls that isn’t working. I am pointing to the right db in my config file and I can create content from the admin site, and the links show up on my homepage, but when I click I get a 500 error. none of my other wp instances hosted in the same environment are having trouble.

    Thanks in advance.
    David

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.

Thanks so much for the help. I finally had a chance to try all that. Created new files, turned everything off, brought everything back, and got fresh folders… If I originally duplicated this wp instance from another is there a chance there is a file trying to point my links at an old db? Like I said thanks for the help. Please let me know if you have any other ideas.
