    Hi!

I am beginner with WordPress, and honestly, spend a horrible half a day trying to fix this issue. I’ve searched everything and everywhere, and don’t seem to find an answer, hence my final hope is this forum ??

I haven’t launched my website yet, because I’m trying to put it together first. I had a version X of my homepage, and today I edited it to version Y. However, when I went to the homepage itself nothing changed. All the other posts and other pages update themselves without problems, it’s only homepage that is an issue.

I have tried to purge cache multiple times; I’ve cleared cache in my browser, I have spent 2 hours in the Bluehost support chat, which did more harm than good. They said I cannot control server cache myself, but they have cleared it for me twice, and said there is nothing else they can help me with and it’s a site design issue. I have also tried to disable all plugins, just in case – that didn’t help either.

What else can I do? My trial homepage right now says “This is a webpage about blablablaa By blablablbal” ?? so I can’t keep it like that.

Sorry if it’s a really stupid question and has a really simple solution (I kinda hope it is!)

    Thanks
    J.

Can you show us your website?

It’s bearlyhere.com but it’s in development stage so I think you won’t be able to see it. Do you need me to publish it?

You can edit your post for up to 30 minutes so only do what you’re comfortable, but it would be helpful to see the website.

I just made it accessible – you can check it out

Although I can’t see the problem, asking Bluehost to disable their caching systems would be useful for now and future.

If you need to cache your site, it would be better carried out by a plugin so that you’re in full control.

At the moment the cache that Bluehost say they’ve purged is still a suspect of the problem.

The Bluehost support told me they cannot disable cache, only clear it.. maybe I should try again. But yeah, I actually edited the “blablabla” part to something human-like. So you think it’s still the Bluehost cache that’s the problem? Thanks Andrew, I’ll try to contact them again.

I think we and you will struggle to find the underlying problem as long as Bluehost cache your site.

It is strange for the host to refuse caching. Can you try some of the articles that come up in Google after searching “bluehost disable cache”?

Andrew, I just talked to Bluehost again, and they now have disabled cache. But the issue still persists.. if you have any other ideas, I’d be happy to hear ??

It’s weird that your page still appears to be cached by Bluehost. I’m looking at the source code to check this. Right click on your page and search for “cache”.
If you find this code, the page is cached by Bluehost:

    <!--Generated by Endurance Page Cache-->

To rule out any funny business with plugins, can you tell us all the plugins you have inactive and active?

    (@jennyair)

    Thanks Andrew.

I’ve tried deactivate all the plugins, but it didn’t seem to help. Right now I activated them back, they are:
    Akismet Anti-Spam
    Bluehost
    Jetpack
    OptinMonster API
    Regenerate Thumbnails
Social Media and Share Icons (Ultimate Social Media)
    Widgets in Columns
    WP-Optimize
    WPForms Lite
    WPtouch Mobile Plugin
    Yoast SEO

    @jennyair

Can you show us what page is set in your homepage? It’s under Settings > Reading > https://prntscr.com/i5y48x

Is the page set there the page you want to show?

    (@jennyair)

@anevins I just checked again (found an advice to add a code piece into HTACCESS file to disable Varnish HTTP Cache), and it seems to me that bluehost caching is gone now.

@wpninjatech Yes, the page set there is the one I want to show, and it’s the one showing at https://bearlyhere.com/. The issue is that I made edits to this page, but it only shows me the old version, and this problem is only with the homepage.
