Hi, I am also facing the same issue. Here I would like to share with all of you how i fixed it. Although this is not a permanent solution but still it will be helpful until we get the official response and hence permanent solution.

I installed a WordPress plugin named WP – Downgrade and downgraded my wordpress to the last version i.e. 5.4.2 and now the slider starts working again.

If any of you have any permanent solution, then please do share. Thanks

Hello, so glad I checked this particular email. Yes, both of my websites are broken with 5.5 update. I’ve installed the downgrade and activated the plugin. I’ve followed the steps and saved the changes and not seeing it work.

    It does state:
n order to perform the upgrade/downgrade to WP 5.4.2 please go to Update Core.

    Up-/Downgrade Core

When I do this it leads me to my plug in page. Not sure where to go from here.

    Help would be greatly appreciated!

On another note…is it time to abandon this great theme for a company that will respond to its users???

After years of reading and getting help from the community, I want to contribute:

This problem is caused by WordPress stopping to support old JQuery code (and that’s good!)

The file responsabile for Slider is: /wp-content/themes/athena/inc/js/camera.js

Quick and dirty fix: edit that file, replace all occurrencies of .live( with .on( and save. It would be better to make this edit with a Child Theme.

    Some notes:

    • I’m not a professional developer and I don’t know your website, so test your everything before calling it ‘fixed’.
    • Remember that running old themes or plugins code can lead to problems in the future.
    • It’s always better to keep everything updated, even if it needs the effort to move to another theme.

    Hi,
    thanks for your reply.
I tried the quick and dirty fix, but unfortunately it didn’t work for my website.
    Best,
    Christian

Very strange. It worked with my installation. Did you try with another browser?
Anyway I just discovered another method that could work: try to install “Enable jQuery Migrate Helper” plugin.
Of course you should revert camera.js to the default from the theme zip file.

Install the “Enable jQuery Migrate Helper” plugin as recommended by frabnet and the slider worked correctly.

    Thanks friend

Installing the “Enable jQuery Migrate Helper” plugin worked perfectly!
    Thank you very much!! ??

So… I experienced the same issue, and the Helper worked perfectly, but it appears to be a patch, not a repair of the primary issue. I have no experience in coding. Is this something I can fix so the Helper isn’t needed?

    THANKS!

Same here. The plugin fixed most of the issues on my site. I still have one media gallery slider on the homepage that is not showing up (blank space but links are active). Any suggestion? Thanks

Hi, I had this same issue for the past 9 days since my WordPress was upgraded to 5.5. I just installed a plugin called Enable jQuery Migrate Helper and it totally worked! My sliders are working again in Athena.

Hi, I resolved this issue a few months ago with the “Enable Query Migrate Helper” . It worked for a few months, now today Godaddy updated my WordPress AGAIN and it no longer works. Anyone know how to fix this now? Thanks.

    @tmoh7889
Make sure “Enable Query Migrate Helper” plugin is also updated. it will create additional function to Tools menu in Dashboard.Log in to your website, then go to Dashboard/Tools/jQueryMigrate and and choose jQuery version legacy 1.12.4-wp, instead of Default from wordpress, save your changes.Clear cashe.
    Good luck!

    Hi geno19,

I updated the plugin and used the legacy version you mentioned, cleared cache and Miracle…It works now..THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!
