    HI , I have a serious problem with W3TC.
I installed it on my website https://www.webclass4u.nl, but after deactivating and deinstalling it, my homepage cannot be updated anymore.
Only as a logged in user I see the updated homepage, but not being logged in the webpage will not change after updating.
Is there anyone who can telle me how this can be solved?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • You might want to check the purge settings as the home page is not purged by default, you might need to select it. I hope this helps!

I just found the solution myself. W3 Total Cache is putting code in the wp-config file and in the .htaccess file. That code prevents to clear the cache and it makes your website unusable after deleting the W3 Total Cache plugin.
The only solution for me was to manually delete alle the W3 Total cache code.

    Hello @marcelfelix

I am sorry about the issue you experienced and I am glad you found the solution to this.
Yes, on some not-so-good hosting environments, after removing W3 Total Cache there are some residual files like /cache/ folder or some .htaccess rules.
Ideally, once W3 Total Cache is removed the rules should be removed from the .htaccess file and all files related to W3 Total Cache should be deleted from the server.
However, we cannot vouch for all hosting environments so yes, in some cases manual removal is needed.
    Thanks!
