Homepage featured slider – how to have single slide

I set the featured slider to show only one page. I disabled the controls and the autoplay because I only need a single item here, not 3.

When viewing on mobile, the featured slider still shows 3 items – duplicates of the single page, and can be swiped left or right until nothing appears in that section.

So how do you show only 1 thing here and not 3?

BTW, I can child theme it and just put in my own section, but I’d like to keep some functionality if 3 items ever became needed in the future.

Looks to me like the theme forces you to have 3 things.
