    How to cause the problem:
On install, WooCommerce creates a few pages, among them a shop page.
If that page is set to be a static front page via the settings, then the Storefront custom templates doesn’t get applied, even though it looks like it is selected in the template select box in the edit screen. Quite difficult to catch without any error notices. Hence, Homepage Control doesn’t work, since the selected template is, in fact, not selected.

    Solution:
Don’t set the WooCommerce generated starting page as the static front page. Make a new page instead.

  • Glad this is sorted. It would have been better to post this update on the other topic instead of creating a new one though ??

Yes, I guess it would have been better to update the other topic. Only… I was searching for solutions to the problem, and the title of the other topic doesn’t really describe the problem. I happened upon it by chance alone. So I started this topic to make it easier to find.

I’m using the Storefront theme and I found this fix after experiencing the same issue with Homepage Control. I’m still having problems with it, though.

I have my new “home” page set as the static page but it is simply blank – it doesn’t contain any of my categories or features products. Any other ideas? I’m hoping I’m missing something relatively straightforward. Thanks!

Did you set the page template? ??
