Ok I understand that, but seeing as the topic was never replied to and is essentially just a conversation with myself I thought you could delete it as it isnt helpful to anyone.

Can you at least delete the URL out as it comes up in google when the user’s URL is searched.

Is there anything I can do to stop this thread showing up so high? Editing the URL out would surely be easy and quick enough to solve this pointless thread?

Yes, but our practices change. We wouldn’t carry on a practice that we now find disadvantageous on the case that ‘we used to do it’.

The URL in your post has the ‘nofollow’ attribute already. This is flag used by search-engines to indicate whether a link should be followed, or indexed.
