Homepage content area (Responsive)

Please can someone tell me how I can edit the homepage content area? Theme I am using is responsive. It’s driving me crazy! Just want an image and a couple of search buttons there! Without this, my site is basically useless. Getting a bit frustrated trying to find the answer ??

Is there no way of adding a wysiwyg widget there instead?
