Home Slider – Convert to Fixed Height

I love the Sixteen-plus theme. Works fantastic. Bought the Pro version.

However the slider on the home page automatically expands vertically to match the portrait oriented photos dimensions and then retracts again for the landscape ones. This isn’t good, especially if you’re trying to read any of the content on the page below where the slider is located.

How can I tell the slider to remain a particular height, and maybe center the pictures vertically so they show the middle of the picture? Or better yet, resize the images width-wise rather than height-wise.

Personally I can crop photos, no problem. But my client can’t – or won’t. Not sure which.
