• Just secured a new domain and downloaded WP from the hosting company. It installed with no problem. I chose the 2011 theme to get familiar with the software. When I went into the dashboard to start editing, the home page would not load. The other pages on the template loaded but not the home page. This is my first experience with wordpress. Any help would be appreciated. The site is https://www.tyriancreative.com. Thank you!

  • Go to Settings -> Reading.

If you want the homepage to be a static page, as in a page that you’ve added in the Pages section, select the Static Page option, and then select the desired page from the drop down.

    Hope this helps ??

    Hi jerryhughes67,

Sorry to hear you’re having trouble with your new site. You shouldn’t need to download WordPress from your hosting company. You should be able to simply install this using their SimpleScripts feature:

If you installed WordPress that way, what did you put in for the domain and installation directory in the Installation Preferences? Did you also edit the default file order in your document root directory so that index.php will display for your domain name?

    Hope this helps!
