• I’ve tried everything I can think of and am stumped…

I created a static page with the following url:
    https://cheekylit.com/resources/web-2-0-tools/blog-wiki-forum-tools/

After I created the page, when I enter my site url it ‘redirects’ to the url above instead. My site url is…
    https://cheekylit.com

In my General Settings, the wordpress url and site url is correctly indicated for both as…
    https://cheekylit.com

In my Settings>Reading, it is correctly indicated to show my latest posts in summary form.

If I trash the new page, I get a 404 message ‘not found’ for my homepage.

I don’t know what else to do, so if anyone knows what’s happening here, advice/instructions would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

I’m thinking something is going to have to be changed directly in hosting files, but I don’t know how to do this.

  • I have the same error with links, I created a static page directory, made this the first in the custom menu order, change the page to Home and set this in reading as the static home page, but I did not type the page slug correctly ‘hom’.

I unset the page reset the slug to home and reset the static page, but it would not reset, so now it goes looking for directory then hom, I have had to reset the slug to ‘hom’.

I have a category called artisteer this redirects to hom, all others are ok, I do not think it is to do with the menu but the page links, as I have links to the other categories on the page as well.

Other links that work in my localhost test environment are not working in the live environment?

    See it here: https://www.digitalraindrops.net

Maybe someone has an answer to both problems?

    1. The home page, I have run the database tables, I was using a plugin called redirect, this had entries created today so it must have be affected by something I was setting, how was this updated I do not know, I disabled the plugin and deleted the entries and it resolved the home page, and other strange redirections I had!

    2. I have tags and a category with the same name, there is no term of type artisteer and category, I have had to rename the category and slug to be unique, so there may be something wrong with the terms and links.

    Hey,

After reading your posts above, I decided to deactivate my Redirection plugin. Now my homepage loads properly.

Before I did this, I tried creating a redirection, but it caused my homepage to not load at all (created a loop where the two addresses were fighting).

I’m going to try to reactivate redirection to see if the problem returns. I only had one redirection in use so I just need to check if it’s still an issue.

Thanks for this Duckie777 and Adeptris!!!!!! I had exactly the same problem in that I added a new Page and then amended the menu slightly. The Redirection Plugin got terribly confused by all this and disabling the Plugin resolved the issue.

Hey there people. If you make some adjustments to your plugin, you can probably still use it. I had similar problems after upgrading the plugin – I think maybe it changed things back to the default setttings. Anyway, all the details are over here if you are interested.

Hope that helps! It is a great plugin and easy to use, and just needs the settings changed (at least, that’s what happened for me).
