Home Page Title & Description using Yoast

I don’t think you need to set it again in Yoast. As long as it’s correct in your WP admin “general settings”. Just make sure you visit each of those pages and edit the Yoast metabox under the content editor.

You could confirm it’s correct by using your WP admin navigation to go to “SEO”, then “Titles and Meta”. Next, click the “Home” tab.

The first two options mention Home Page and Blog Page. Click the link to the page, and ensure you have edited the SEO options correctly.

This has:
Title template: %%sitename%% %%page%% %%sep%% %%sitedesc%%

and:
Meta description template:

Should I fill these two fields with the Home Title & Home Description I have used in my Theme home page SEO.

Ideally I want this to be the same so not sure if to just do this?

You are on the “Post Types” tab.

Re-read my comment above. You want the “Home” tab.

You should see these two options:
1. You can determine the title and description for the front page by editing the front page itself ?
2. You can determine the title and description for the blog page by editing the blog page itself ?

Click the link to go to that page. Then, look below the content editor for the Yoast SEO box.

Something has changed then because I am on the Home Page Tab and it does not say what your are saying it def says, on the Home Page Tab:

What you are seeing makes sense, what I see is what I have said above hence I am unsure what to do?

This is what I just don’t get. Thinking of getting rid of Yoast if I can’t figure this out. If I can’t control what the Home page title and description is then it’s no use to me and clearly what you see is pretty self explanatory, what I see is totally different.

If you go to edit that page in the editor… and scroll down below the post editor itself… do you see the SEO box for refining the post/page SEO options?

By ‘edit that page in the editor’ I guess you mean the Home Page of my site?

If that is the case the theme I am using has a Home Title and Home Description field which I have already filled in.

Like if your home page is called “home”. Then, in your WP dashboard, you would go to “Pages”… and then find the page title “Home”… and then click “edit”.

Now, on that edit screen… below the editor box. Do you see the SEO options?
