    Hello everybody,

I have just finished a webpage (www.naogu.es) and it takes too long to load the home page. The home page only has a nav menu and a slider so it should load faster (I guess).

    Could anyone help me?

    Thank you all!

    Fernando

  • Hi Fernando. How long would you say the homepage is taking to load?

Have you tried the standard “switching to the default theme” and “disabling your plugins” to see if one of them are causing the slow pages?

You could also try the memory viewer plugin to help narrow down where in WordPress it is slowing down (if it is not a server related issue with your host)

The first thing I would check is the size of any images in the slider. Keep in mind that they all load even if they’re not immediately visible, and if the filesize is massive, it’s going to slow down the whole page.

If you’re using FireFox, you can also use the FireBug extension to view exactly what is loading when and find out what’s taking so long.

Thank you both…I will try what you suggest tonight once I get home. In the meantime, what should be the size of the images in order not to slow down the whole page? 10Kb? 50Kb? 500Kb?

    Thanks!

After another review, to me it appears to be a connection issue. Ping and Tracert tests show that there are problems when reaching your server:

As I’m writing this however, I am seeing your site load much faster for me. It may be that not all routers along the way are setup to respond correctly to tracert’s.

Are you seeing any improvement in your site’s loading time?

Thank you so much Brad. What you say is like Chinese to me. Do you mean it might have something to do with my server (Arsys)? Do I have to tell them to fix something?

I have erase my navigation history (I don’t know how do you call it in English) and loaded the page again…it still takes forever to load, like I don’t know, maybe 20 or 30 seconds.

    Hi ferreartes.

My tests I believe are triggering a false positive. Basically I am seeing your site load just fine, while my connectivity tests show that the site should not load at all for me.

    ALSO:

This page: https://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/DfiWphY1R/naogu.es shows it takes more than 40 seconds to load your homepage!

If you take a look at the results, you can see how long it is taking to load specific files. You can also see that your site is calling 31 files and is 445.9Kb large.

Thank you Brad! I have saw the results of the test and managed to figure out what could each of them mean. I think I had a plugin (which I wasn’t using) that was slowing down everything. I have removed it and did the test again and it is taking now less than 6 seconds to load, which I think it’s acceptable.

Could you try again to see if it’s just me or I have solved? Thank you very much for your help, it’s greatly appreciated!

When I test your site, it’s been loading fine for me all along, as in it wasn’t taking 40+ seconds to load. I just tested again, and it is loading quickly for me.

I just tested using the pingdom tool again, and this time it only took 2.3 seconds! WHAT A HUGE IMPROVEMENT! Good job on figuring that one out!

Thank you very much! I think your test is not working though…I have made some improvements, but 2 seconds…hehe. It might have something to do with the cached memory or something. Anyway, it’s loading faster now so thank you for your help.

I have another question you might help me with (or let me know if I have to open a new thread)…when I google “naogu complementos” the result for my page only shows the URL https://www.naogu.es…no description or title being shown. I have introduced a title and a description from my desktop manager in WordPress so I have no idea why is this happening…any clue?

    Thank you for your help!

Hi ferreartes, what plug in did you uninstall? I’m having the same problem..
