Home Page Setup

i know this is the free version but i thought i could still try and get help. i’m very new to this and not tech savvy at all.

all of my “Blogs” or “posts” are staying on my home page. they won’t go to the categories i have set them under.

my friend said need to make sure my home page is not set up as a Blog. how do i do this? i need step by step directions here.
