    Hi Everyone,

This is my first time posting. Thank you for any help in advance.

My new website (3 weeks young) is called Cooking with Carbs. I can find it via google searching for cookingwithcarbs but I’m nowhere to be found searching “Cooking with Carbs”.

I’m using the blog page as my home page and Yoast SEO. I don’t see an H1 tag that I can readily use with “Cooking with Carbs” and Yoast doesn’t seem to have any SEO options/recommendations on this page like it does for my actual blog posts.

Any help in improving the SEO on this page so that I can be found searching “Cooking with Carbs” would be much appreciated!

    Hi @cookingwithcarbs,

Thanks for reaching out, and thank you for using Kale- we really appreciate it!

Typically the H1 tag on the home page uses the site title set under Appearance > Customize > Site Identity, but it looks like you’re currently using an image in this location instead. Do you happen to have a child theme installed on the site? If so, if you let me know where you want an H1 tag to go on your home page, I can give you instructions for adding it in your child theme.

Thanks again, and have a great day!

    Thank you Steven!

I’m pretty clueless to all of this stuff.

I am using Child theme configurator, and am using the Kale child theme.

My impression was that having an H1 tag that includes the desired keyword would help in SEO. In this case I don’t actually want to change the visual appearance of my home page, but not sure what options remain in that case regarding the use of an H1 tag.

Is there a way to make the “COOKING WITH CARBS” wording across the main banner an H1 tag? Thank you!

    Hi @cookingwithcarbs,

I see what you mean…thanks for the helpful info. You’re right, it gets a bit sticky- adding an H1 would need to be done in a visible way to avoid being penalized by search engines, but I think your idea about changing the banner caption to an H1 would work nicely!

To do this, you would just need to edit /parts/frontpage-banner.php in your child theme (not the parent file), replacing the <h2></h2> tags with <h1></h1>.

You may also want to adjust the styling on the new tags since the old styles would only apply to the caption as it was originally created.

If you run into any trouble or have any questions along the way, just let us know and we’ll be happy to help out. Thanks!

I will look into this, thanks so much!

Hi, I am also having this problem. Where exactly do go to find the code and edit it as you have said? Thanks

    Hi @wesleygrace,

Are you using a child theme already? If so, you can edit the code mentioned above in your child theme’s copy of /parts/frontpage-banner.php. If not, then setting up a child theme would be the first step. ??

Let us know if you need any help!
