• When editing any page on my site, I can click on the preview button and see my updates fine. However, if I am editing the home page of the site, when I click on preview, I do not see the changes.

Since this is a live site, turning off all of the plugins or changing the theme to see if there is a conflict isn’t really an option.

Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this problem? I’ve looked in the console and there are no errors listed.

  • WHat are the contents of your homepage, static text or has it been assigned a template that displays widgets? You can preview your homepage via the Appearance > Customizer menu if it’s a widget-based homepage.

Deactivating all plugins is an essential step when fully-troubleshooting a WordPress website, you can always make use of a maintenance mode plugin for a live site should the need arise.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks for the response.

I ended up creating a test subdomain so I could make changes. Turns out the original developer was using a template (not front-page.php) for the page and had multiple queries on the page. Instead of using the standard loop, they used the ID of the home page to get the content.

Took me forever to hunt down.
