Home page options/Feature pages don't work

Hi,
I am in Customize/Theme options/Home page options and I have these problems:
– Featured left, middle and right pages show a distorted picture
– Featured left, middle and right pages show the text at beginning of the selected page, not a summary like your preview
– Featured bottom page doesn’t have a buttom to go to the referred page

These are my questions:
– Which should the dimensions for the features images at the features pages be to work both at the real page as well as these custom fields at the home page
– How can I put only a summary at the home page and the full text (without the summary showing) in the real page?
