• Hi all,

I’m a volunteer for a childrens activity centre and am in the process of updating our website to make it look a little better.

The first thing I have encountered is that the home page doesn’t display properly, it shows the whole menu as a full list, rather than appearing in a bar towards the top of the page. Once you navigate to any other page it seems to sort itself out but obviously not a good impression for visitors on our main landing page.

If anyone knows of any good free themes – please let me know about these too!

Thanks in advance for your help!

    Thanks,

    Joe

  • Hey,

It seems to be working just fine for me ?? Here’s a screenshot of what I see: https://cloudup.com/cyo3uSqzc-J

I really like the new default theme Twenty Twenty-Two because it is entirely block based and enables you to make use of the new site editing features in 5.9.

    Hey James,

Thanks so much for commenting so quickly!

Oh that’s good news but here’s what I see… https://www.dropbox.com/s/q0q9jynslw354eq/Screenshot%202022-02-04%20at%2010.36.33.png?dl=0. A few other people have told me they see this too. Does the same on either Firefox or Safari so guess it isn’t because of my browser?

I’ll have to have a look at Twenty Twenty-Two – it’s installed on our WordPress (I guess it’s a default one). Is there a way to start populating that with content in the background to test it out? Will it autmoatically copy our current content over?

    Cheers,

    Joe

I am in the process of using a staging site to test twenty twenty two for eventual use on one of my sites. I have been using Google Chrome browser and have the staging site developed to the point where it is nearly ready for the real site.

All looks well in Google Chrome and on my iPhone, which I think uses Safari. I then tried it out on Microsoft Edge, where it looked fine too. But when I tried it on Firefox, I had the same problem you reported with the header menu. The text, especially the headers, also was not shown properly. I did not make any changes to either the menu or the fonts, so this must be a problem with the way Firefox renders 2022’s “out of the box” code.

Where do we go from here?
