Home Page/News Page

Hello!
The issue I’m experiencing is as follows:
In the customization menu, I am not able to make the home page and posts page the same page. My intent is to have the home page show the latest post (not the title alone, but the entire post).
Similarly, the posts page, “news” I called it, shows the entire first post, while adding a “latest post” block gives a shortlist of the most recent posts. I essentially need them to work the opposite.

I’ve been trying to code snippets into the pages themselves, to no avail. The post page doesn’t seem to show anything but the most recent post, regardless of what blocks are on it.

Any ideas on how I can consolidate or flip the function of these pages?
