Home Page is not set as static page

I’m confused. I just noticed that the Reading setting on my site (and on your demo) has the Home page set for “show posts”. In other sites I’ve created (very few) I’ve always had a home page set as a static page.

How do I set the Home page to be a static one in your theme? Or is there a problem leaving it as a posts page? Shouldn’t it be a static page for SEO reasons?

Sorry to be confused about this. I had assumed the Home page would be a static one, but it sure isn’t n the list of pages.
