Did you changed the Front page displays option to static page under Reading Settings?

I have just done it and solved my problem thanks.
There is text under my text box on each page saying something about html can I remove that text?

Make a copy of style.css via ftp ( within Themes>TwentyTen)
Ok open the style.css via theme editor
Look for

#respond .form-allowed-tags {
color: #888;
font-size: 12px;
line-height: 18px;
}

and adddisplay:none;
So it will be like this:

#respond .form-allowed-tags {
color: #888;
font-size: 12px;
line-height: 18px;
display:none;
}
