Home page

I believe you have not set Home page correctly. You can change Home page via Admin Panel. Settings >> Reading >> Front page displays
Select Page from Here. See this screen shot for more details. https://prnt.sc/guncsf

I did try that earlier but it didn’t seem to work. I’ll try again but any other thoughts?

I have made these changes but still nothing.

I thought it might be the Layer Slider WP that was not showing but it is not showing any of the body content that I see in the visual composer. I do see the proper header and footer though.

As I mention in I go at /home to the web address then it works

the site is also using the salient theme

As a mater of fact when I make the change that you suggested the /home no longer works. I end up at the root of the site at the index.html that doesn’t work

No it is not resolved. I am trying to figure out where or why it is going to an index.html as,like you said, that file simply doesn’t exist.

Can you please share full screen shot of both the pages where content is displayed and where you get the 404 pages.

It’s look like you have wrong code in .htaccess file. Can you share screen shot of htaccess file?

Also in settings > Permalink just hit the save button.

Thanks! That seems to have fixed it! Can you explain what those lines were there for? I thought it was someone WordPress created and I didn’t want to play around with it

That lines says your index page is index.html instead /home
