• hello all (again, forgive the newbie if this was already covered)

i notice using multi-user, when i create a new wordpress site, it wants to include a “home” link, far left.

in order for me to create a “home” page, i have to make the home page a child of another page. otherwise the “home” link appears twice (default 2010 theme)

am i doing something wrong here?

    thank you all,
    mark

that was the first thing i did, but now i have TWO links for the “home” page.

the only solution i have found is to make the home page a child of another page, and then use the reading panel to make the home page the static page.

this works, but i dont like the idea that the home page is a “child” page of another page.

sorry but i am still at a loss to figure out how to create a “home” page without having to make the home page a child of another page!

when i mouse over the “parent” page-0link of the actual home page (lets call it the contact page) i see my home page. that does not make any sense.

i am trying to create an actual page called “home” without the home-link showing up twice on the far left of the menu options.

    thank you all very much.

Are you using a custom menu? And if not, why not?

It depends if the theme author added a home link to wp_list_pages or wp_page_nav which you can see in theme’s header.php.

    What theme are you using?
