Holy Shit Show of a God-Awful Mess
-
Good lord. Alright, I have two major categories of complaints.
(1) Ads. I installed this thing not really understanding what I was getting into, and found it immediately pretty unusable because everywhere you turn it is trying to get you to pay some money. If the monetization component of this venture is so strong for you guys, it’d really be better to charge upfront. Or remove all the nonsense.
So anyway, I was like “oh man, what have I done, I need to get rid of this monster.”
(2) Fucks up your life. I uninstalled the plugin, removed the most obvious php files it created, and looked for anything stray it might have done in my htaccess and wordpress config files. Having cleaned all that up to the best my satisfaction, I was horrified to see that my WordPress was totally busted. I could go to the front page of my site, and the admin console, and that was it.
So, after killing 30 minutes trying to fix the broken situation I had, I ultimately just ended up rsync’ing yesterday’s backup to the live version (I know, I know, version control, test system, then roll to production … this is my personal site, its not that big of a deal.)
So yea. I think in order to enjoy this plugin you need to at least spend the good portion of a day messing around with it — and likely, also be ready to pony up some dough, as well.
I was not in the mood for either.
