    Hello!

I use PayPal on my website. Noticed that a customer created order 2 days ago but the new order notification came TODAY. When i check the order notes, saw these:

    1) Unpaid order cancelled – time limit reached. Order status changed from Pending payment to Cancelled. — 2 days ago
    2) IPN payment completed — 2 days ago
    3) Order status changed from Cancelled to Processing. — today

The order been cancelled first because PayPal didn’t send the success signal, and then 2 days later the success signal came. But in this period, the order was in cancelled status and i never realize the new order. To prevent this, I cleared the time Hold stock (minutes). Now that field empty. I think new order’s status will be “Processing” and NOT be cancelled inside payment processing period. But i have still questions.

1 – What if the payment will not success after PayPal processing time? Will the order be cancelled? Because otherwise i will have a new problem.
2 – I wonder why the payment processing time took 2 days. Is it not very long?

    Thank you!

    Hi @demirdoven,

Now that field empty. I think new order’s status will be “Processing” and NOT be cancelled inside payment processing period.

The order is changed to Processing once payment has been received. Thus, in this case, it should stay in Pending payment status till PayPal sends notification of payment for it to be moved to the Processing or Complete status.

For reference on order statuses, kindly check this guide – https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/managing-orders/#order-statuses.

1 – What if the payment will not success after PayPal processing time? Will the order be cancelled? Because otherwise i will have a new problem.

Without the HoldStock timeout, the order should remain in the Pending payment status until you set it to a different status. For reference, kindly check this guide.

    * Rather than removing the HoldStock timeout, I would recommend setting it but for a longer duration than it averagely takes for your transactions to be processed by PayPal.

2 – I wonder why the payment processing time took 2 days. Is it not very long?

Indeed, it’s a bit long. However, since this delay was on PayPal’s side, you could reach out to them to ask why this particular transaction took 2 days to process.

    I hope this helps.
    Thanks.
