• I just finished a complete overhaul of my site, and this is by far the closest I have come to developing a fully custom theme. It’s still based on template files borrowed from another theme, but they have been modified to suit my purposes. The CSS is pretty much all mine. My photoshop work is crappy, but I am still a total noob. I have one validation issue that I haven’t been able to fix. I can’t locate the script that the validator is referring to. If anyone has any ideas on where to look for it I would appreciate it. Thanks for your advice and constructive criticism

  • Your site doesn’t validate because a plugin you use doesn’t validate. Check out a plugin called wp-dtree-30. language=javascript should be type=text/javascript.

If anything you may want to have a look at the uppermost coffee stain. Why does it suddenly stop? I’d would look so much better if the bg-image would be aligned to the top of the browser.

Personally I always add a #wpstats {display:none;} to the stylesheet if I use the stats plugin. But if the smiley doesn’t bother you..

    Nice and clean.

Thanks disbas. I am planning to rework the header image so the scale of the coffee stains is more realistic when compared to the polaroid image. Right now they are way out of whack. I will fix the cutoff stain at the same time. I was pretty sure that the validation problem was related to the plugin, but I hadn’t tracked down the code yet.

I finally located the offending code and now it validates. Thanks.

    Cool.

I never noticed the smiley face before now, but after reading several threads there seems to be some disagreement about the best way to get rid of it without breaking the script. Couldn’t I just use a big negative indent to push it out of sight?

Nice clean site. Proof that “less is more.”

BTW, I’m in Blue Ridge ??
