    Thanks for getting in touch about this.

    It is our understanding that Independent Analytics is HIPAA compliant. Here is the relevant bit from that page:

    The HIPAA Rules apply when the information that regulated entities collect through tracking technologies or disclose to tracking technology vendors includes protected health information (PHI).

    In this case, there is no “protected health information” disclosed to the tracking technology. Independent Analytics doesn’t receive any medical data about visitors, nor does it collect or store any personal data in the database that could be connected to an individual’s health records. It’s also important to note that Independent Analytics doesn’t communicate with external servers, so the analytics data is created and stored entirely on your website.

    Just to confirm, IPs are anonymized with this plugin, correct?

    Yes, the IP address is combined with the User Agent string and then hashed to create a unique, anonymous ID.
