Hello, I would like to hijack the existing mobile menu using the Divi theme (Version: 4.9.2). Is this feature available?

Absolutely! We’ll take a look at a demo of the theme to see what event listener needs to be targeted and will get back to you.

OK, so we’ve just pushed an update that may work to hijack the Divi theme mobile menu. I say “may” because we don’t have a copy of that theme to test and we’re doing a bit of guesswork ??

Please update to the latest version and let me know if it works or not (cross fingers).

    Thanks,

Hi Oliver, thanks so much for the quick response! I updated the latest version. It successfully hijacks the Divi theme mobile menu, however there is one issue. Any menu items with submenus do not open. Nothing happens when tapping those menu items.

Oh, that’s odd! Would you be able to share a link to the site so we can investigate the issue?

    Thanks,

    Oliver

Thank you. We are not seeing the mobile menu opening the SideMenu on that page?

We would need that enabled to be able to investigate it.

    It is now enabled.

I’m afraid we are still not able to see the SideMenu open when using the mobile menu toggle, sorry!

    Please advise.

Hmm, I just double-checked and was able to see the SideMenu open when using the mobile menu toggle on 2 personal devices (both iOS) as well as a few different devices on https://mobiletest.me/

Interestingly, the submenus DO open on https://mobiletest.me/ but they are still not opening on my physical devices.

    OK, it’s working now ??

    It was probably cached.

What I noticed immediately is that the cart icon covers the close menu icon but that aside, the little arrows to open the sub menus are definitely working on Safari on MacOS.

We then tested on an iPhone XS and found your issue that the submenu arrows were not opening the sub menus.

This could be a tricky one to diagnose … are you able to replicate the issue on any desktop browsers at all (so that we can fire up the inspector to see what’s going on)?

Can you disable all other plugins to see if there’s some kind of conflict going on?

    Thanks.

Thanks for all your help! Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to replicate the issue on any desktop browsers. The submenu arrows seem to be working fine there.

I just disabled all other plug-ins on our staging site, opened the staging site on my mobile, and the issue still persisted with the submenu arrows not working.

Any other ideas or workarounds we could try?

I need to get back to you after I’ve tested this on another theme. Need to rule out Divi causing the issue.

In the meantime you could go to “Customizer – SideMenu – Enable Dropdown Menus” and untick that option to leave the sub menus visible all the time.

Until I get this fixed ??

    Ok thank you!

OK, so I’ve tested the feature on Twenty Seventeen theme and the dropdown arrows work on an iPhone XS.

Can you please re-enable dropdown menus so I can see what’s preventing the arrows from working in the Divi theme?

    Thanks,

    Oliver
